    This year, Petrozavodsk, the capital of Karelia Republic, celebrates its 300th birthday. To us, this date is not jut a historic festivity but good time to sum up achieved results and outline the ways for future development of the Republic. We feel proud that Petrozavodsk and Karelia are famous and well-known for their gifted people of all professions, masters, teachers, beautiful girls crowned as the top beauties of Russia and Europe, many products manufactured locally. Our Republic possesses everything to become a prosperous region with well-developed economy and a market meeting the European standards. The Karelian Government is ready to render support to progressive projects aiming at economic development. Only open cooperation between the business and the authorities based on mutual understanding and trust will give the result we all need.     The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Karelia is happy to present you the magazine "Karelian House".
    The first special magazine appeared in Karelia to aim at informing attractiveness of Karelia as a region worth of investing resources, dissemination of the formal position of the Karelian Government to potential partners, presenting Karelian companies and their managers, gifted entrepreneurs, small and medium businesses, experts employed in various sectors, including the investment management sector.
    The current day sets objectives that go far beyond a narrow professional specialisation. This concerns, above all, our companies and entrepreneurs.
    Many Karelian businessmen find their primary goal in not just ensuring well-to-do life for their relatives and employees but also enhancing the Karelian economy, care for the Karelian population, the elderly and children, culture and education, prestige of Karelia at the federal and worldwide level.
